Update 12/10 2021 – 미국에서는 사춘기 아이들의 사망의 주 원의 번째가 초기기 사고이다.

미국 소아청소년들의 사망률이 1980-2004년 약 25년 동안에 50%가 감소됐다.
그 이유는 더 효과적 치료 약물의 발명과 치료 방법
안전사고의 예방 및 대책 증진
사회적으로 경제적으로 불리한 처지에서 있는 소아청소년들에게 국가적 차원에서 건강보험혜택을 부여해 그들에게 건강관리혜택을 더 쉽게 얻을 수 있는 기회를 마련해 주었다.
